ENL homework

 The students' classroom homework always should be performed first. But... If you wish to help with improving reading and vocabulary you and your child could perform the following reading tasks.  

HOMEWORK : ENL Students at Hadley & Lincoln

 

Student assignments are to log in their reading.  Students should be reading a minimum of 20 min. orally and 20 min. silently per day with an family member. Students earn points by returning their log sheet with a parent signature and a reflection of their reading weekly.

POEM

Find a book of poems and share w/ class.  Write out a paragraph of 3 or more statements to explain topic of poem: give an opinion of your  reading choice: list of rhyming words. or type of poem.   

CURRENT NEWS

Read an article from the newspaper or a magazine.  Write a paragraph of 6 or more statements to explain topic: give an opinion of your reading choice: Write a  question about the reading.

 SHORT STORIES

Read a novel or short story.  Write a paragraph of 6 or more statements to explain topic: main idea, characters, setting.  Series of events. :give an opinion of the reading choice and a question about the reading.

 HIGH INTEREST BOOK

Read a book or a few pages about a sport, music, travel, cooking, etc.......Write a paragraph of  6 or more statements to explain topic: give an opinion of the reading choice and: write out a  question about the reading.
